ENTITY PROFILE
Deusto Institute of Technology (DeustoTech) is a university research institute linked to the
University of Deusto and the Deusto Foundation. DeustoTech performs basic and applied
RESEARCH
research on ICT. Its main knowledge domains are: Internet, artificial intelligence, energy and
environment, health and quality of life, mobility and transport, and education.

The Mobitlity Unit focuses its research activity on ICTs to fulfill the demands of society and
industry in the field of mobility and transport. This research group is composed by 25 people
including PhDs and engineers in the areas of computer science, telecommunications and
other engineering skills

Train-to-earth wireless communications architectures RFID based freight traceability.
Train and tram traffic regulation and management tools. Seamless positioning and guidance of people in
NFC payment systems. outdoor and indoor environments

R&D: PROJECTS AND PRODUCTS UNIVERSITIES

BRAP - EuskoTren: The aim of the project is the control of human error in the regulation of rail traffic.
The system acts as backup when the CTC is malfunctioning.

GRAS: Remote system for configuration management and download of applications logs.
The system controls the applications installed on equipment of CAF-S900 train unit.

MAC: Application that analyzes the consistency and reliability of autonomous positioning system of
the CAF-S900 train unit.This is done by comparing the CTC information with data collected by trains.

ATENEA: System for remote configuration and upgrade of auxiliary equipment of CAF-S900 train
unit.

MUGITU: Integrated ticketing system for the provision of new means of payment and ticketing for
public transport in the Basque Country and the normalization of European universal ticket.

BERRITRANS: Multimodal railway control center to improve sustainability, security and efficiency of
the work of operation, regulation and maintenance.

MULTITRANS: Service framework for the deployment of transport control centers for sustainable,
efficient and safe management of passenger and freight

CONTXTRAIN: Control center applications and train equipment, to provide context-aware
multimedia content on railway sector.

RAILTRACE: Real time freight tracking system for the railway sector.
