CENIT - CENTER FOR INNOVATION IN

         TRANSPORT




         ENTITY PROFILE
         CENIT is a research centre created in 2001 as a consortium between the Generalitat
         de Catalunya (Autonomous Government of Catalonia) and the Technical University of
         Catalonia (UPC). Its main aim is to generate knowledge on transportation and to transfer
         it to society by means of research, training and technology transfer, and to assess in
         planning  and  transport  design  and  subjects  related  to  mobility.  CENIT  was  the  fi rst
         research center on transportation to be created in Spain.
         CENIT is member of several international  and national  expert groups, such as the
         European Network of Excellence (NoE) EURNEX, and of CoEFUT (Center of Excellence
         of Future Transportation) and is an active member of the Spanish Railway Technological
         Platform (PTFE), Railgrup, CNC-Logistics, etc.                                                         UNIVERSITIES AND RESEARCH CENTRES

                       ME3SAVE. Specifi c  methodology for the economic and social assessment of
                       high speed lines.
                       RAILBOOK. Integrated Handbook for railway stations design and evaluation.
                       Ongoing.
                       RAILCALC. Calculation of charges for the use of rail infrastructure.


                       TARIFO. Methodologies for the setting of track access charges in line with
                       transport policy objectives.
                       RAILEX. Development of methodologies to set charges for use of rail infrastructure
                       that consider the internalisation of rail transport external costs. Ongoing.
                       New operation model for FGC’s lines of Vallès and Llobregat-Anoia. Ongoing.


                       Canon UIC. Study on infrastructure charges of high speed services in
                       Europe.
                       New Technologies for designing very high speed lines (300/350 km/h): Use of
                       Bituminous Subballast for the reduction of maintenance costs.
                       REPLICA. Spanish Network of Intermodal logistics platforms to improve
                       freight transport competitiveness and enviromental sustainability.
