MATERIALS LABORATORY

        HIGHER POLYTECHNIC SCHOOL

        UNIVERSITY OF BURGOS

DESCRIPTION AND GOALS OF THE ORGANISATION

The University Laboratory of Materials Analysis and Control has a strong focus on
research and development in the field of new Construction Materials, addressing
emerging needs and demands of the Railway Sector. Materials are developed in this
laboratory with improved qualities and properties in relation to their mechanical
strength, durability, heat transfer, and noise absorption. Ongoing collaboration with
firms specialised in railway infrastructure, leads to joint research projects. A wide
range of characterization tests and control of construction materials for building and
civil works, such as aggregates, cements, concretes, mortars, ceramic materials,
lime, and plaster, etc. The development of new materials for the railway sector
incorporating industrial waste stands out as a unique activity contributing to
        sustainable development.

         AREAS OF ACTIVITY

t Prefabricated materials used in drainage systems for railway infrastructure t Control and characterization tests of construction materials and civil
t Prefabricated materials for sound absorption panels in railway infrastruct works for railway facilities and infrastructure.
t New materials containing industrial waste for use in railway facilities.
t Improved performance of construction materials for communications infrastructure
