CIDAUT FOUNDATION
DESCRIPTION AND GOALS OF THE ORGANISATION
The Energy Area of Cidaut investigations are focused on the development
of theoretical and experimental tools that guide the evaluation of behaviour
and diagnosis of trainelements and systems. The introduction of new more
efficient and cleaner energy sources for railways are also researched.

* Equipment for the diagnosis of diesel engines based on engine speed irregularity, combustion analysis from cylinder
pressure and fuel injection pressure measurement.
* Equipment for brake system diagnosis (SYS-DNF).
* Equipment for instrumentation and online monitoring trains. Acquisition systems and measurement of temperature,
pressure, electrical parameters, fuel consumption, etc.
* Test benches for verification of systems and elements in repair and maintenance workshops (air conditioning
compressors, brake cylinders, brake pneumatic panels, brake system compressors, balancing torsion effort in wagons,
etc.).
* Test benches for fuel cells, batteries, super-capacitors and power converters for use of hydrogen technologies in
railway.
* Models based on CFD for thermal behaviour in passenger wagons. Probes for experimental validation of models.
* CFD models for aerodynamics in trains and its effect on ballast lifting.
