DESCRIPTION AND GOALS OF THE ORGANISATION

The laboratory of Science and Engineering of Materials (LADICIM) at the
University of Cantabria (UC) has been providing advisory services to
companies for 30 years and establishes agreements with entities and
European authorities developing R&D work in the field of the railway
superstructure. LADICIM is recognized by ENAC (National Accreditation)
for granting the Certificate of Accreditation, international in scope (ILAC,
International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) for test control behavior
on railway superstructure components since January 2005.

TEST FACILITIES, EQUIPMENT, TYPES OF TESTING AND/OR 53*"-4

* 1000 m2 of laboratories.
* 20 universal testing machines for static, dynamic and resonance tests: from 10 N to 1500 kN.
* 1 Environmental test chamber for low and high temperature.
* 2 Scanning electron microscopes, 1 Optical Microscope, X-ray diffraction and Micro-Computed-Axial tomography.
* 9 Relaxation benches.
* 1 Camera of saline fog.
* Oven battery and muffles.
* 2 instrumented Charpy pendulums (5 and 50 Joules).
* Hardness, Microhardness and Ultramicroindentador.

Tests according to national, european and international standards for railway applications:

* European Standards (EN).
* ADIF Technical Especifications (ET).
* AREMA (American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association) Technical Specifications.
