CENTRO NACIONAL DEL HIDRÓGENO
DESCRIPTION AND GOALS OF THE ORGANISATION
As a national research centre at the service of the entire scientific,
technology and industrial community, the National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell
Technology Testing Centre (CNH2) is aimed at driving forward the scientific
and technological research into hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
Electronics and Control Laboratory is specialized in simulation, automatic
control, instrumentation and power electronics for different applications, like
the integration of propulsion systems based in fuel cells for the railway
sector.

TEST FACILITIES, EQUIPMENT, TYPES OF TESTING AND/OR TRI"LS
Focused on different develpment levels: simulation and escalation previous to the design phase, testbenches for
prototypes, embebded controllers applied to commercial products, and integration tests of final applications. The
following equipment is available:
INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL
• Software tools for programming of SCADA systems, PLCs and microcontrollers.
• Design tools and rapid prototyping PCB for the design and development of printed circuit boards.
• Power Supplies and disipative/regenerative electronics programmable loads.
• Small equipment for measuring electrical and electronic parameters, such as oscilloscope, calibrated multimeter,
high precision voltmeter, network analysers, LCR meter.
• Equipment for the verification of industrial communication networks through data network tester, fieldbus tester and
loop calibrators.
POWER ELECTRONICS
• Software Matlab-Simulink for simulating static and dynamic systems in order to model and estimate optimal
operation strategies.
• HIL (hardware in the loop) simulations for validating both converter topologies of power electronics and embedded
control cards.
• Control design both software and hardware, microcontrollers (C), ARM, digital signal processors (DSP) and FPGA.
• Advanced software for the simulation and optimization of the operation and control of power electronics systems
(PScad, Matlab, Tomlab).
