DESCRIPTION AND GOALS OF THE ORGANISATION

inLab FIB UPC is a research and innovation laboratory of the Barcelona
School of Informatics at UPC, specialized in applications and services
based on the latest ICT technologies. inLab FIB UPC has over 30 years of
experience collaborating in cutting edge projects and creating customized
solutions for public and private institutions and organizations.

inLab FIB offers the rail sector its ability to combine Internet and advanced
information technologies with a deep experience in simulation techniques,
data analytics, sustainable transport and smart mobility services.

TEST FACILITIES, EQUIPMENT, TYPES OF TESTING AND/OR TRI"LS

inLab FIB has computers, servers and communications equipment intended to offer their services, with specific
environments for collaborative development of R + D + i projects using agile methodologies and continuous integration
systems. It also maintains specialized software for simulation, database management, statistics and mathematics.
Projects are developed guaranteeing their confidentiality and using agile methodologies (SCRUM) to ensure
collaboration with the client in order to obtain the maximum result from each project. Software is developed to fit the real
customer needs, with incremental deliveries that work and add value.

Some of the specialized scientific services that are provided to rail sector companies are:
* Feasibility studies and/or improvements of transport efficiency using modelling, simulation and optimization
techniques (i.e. Analysis of the energy consumption of the Barcelona Diagonal tram, Traffic management system for the
energy-efficiency improvement of automatically operated metro trains or On-demand/responsive Transport Systems).
* Data analysis and data processing to get relevant information from different data sources (sensors, travelers, etc.). Big
Data platform design. Apps development (web, mobile phone, tablet) for information exploitation (i.e. we developed for
ALSTOM an information system with a geographic map that displays trains locations together with their incident
record) .
* Cybersecurity services: forensics (to find out what happened during a security incident), Security Audits (in order to
recommend the best ways to improve the security and data protection of the company information systems) and
Vulnerability Management (to inform the system administrators continuously about new vulnerabilities that appear in
operating systems, software, devices, etc. in order to prevent intrusions into their computer systems).
