GEOTECHNICAL LABORATORY
GEOLOGICAL AND GEOTECHNICAL DEPARTMENT
POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY OF VALENCIA
DESCRIPTION AND GOALS OF THE ORGANISATION
The Geotechnical Laboratory has a very long legacy in field and laboratory
geotechnical testing. It is specialized in studies and laboratory and field
testing in the sphere of Soil and Rock Mechanics. It provides technical
assistance to both private and public entities which develop activities
related to geotechnical engineering.
It cooperates in research projects with public and private companies in
order to develop new materials that can be used in railways embankments,
including the reuse of waste from the construction and transport sectors.
AREAS OF ACTIVITY
t Soils and unbound aggregates characterization test t Non-destructive test (NDT)
t Triaxial test for soils and rocks t Measurement and analysis of railway track vibration
t Consolidation test: Oedometer and Rowe cell t Durability, abrasivity and drillability test
t Elastic parameters for soils and rocks t Dynamic plate loading test for 300 mm
