LABORATORY OF ACOUSTICS
RESEARCH GROUP I2A2
UNIVERSIDAD POLITECNICA DE MADRID
DESCRIPTION AND GOALS OF THE ORGANISATION
The Research Group on Instrumentation and Applied Acoustics (I2A2)
belongs to the Technical University of Madrid. It is a multidisciplinary
research group, in which several professors from fields like acoustic
engineering, electronic engineering and mechanical engineering and
Instrumentation take part.
The Research Group develops its activity in several areas of acoustics and
ICT, working in permanent contact with companies and administrations via
transfer of technology or knowledge and providing value added services to
the industry.
AREAS OF ACTIVITY
t Noise Control Engineering for Transportation t Industrial Acoustics
t Noise Control Engineering for Buildings t Advanced Data Acquisition Systems
t Environmental Noise Control t Electronic Devices and Embedded Systems
t Urban noise management t Structural Health Monitoring
TEST FACILITIES, EQUIPMENT, TYPES OF TESTING AND/OR 53*"-4
I2A2 Research Group offers an Acoustical Testing Laboratory (LABENAC) accredited by ENAC (Spanish National
Accreditation Body) under UNE-EN ISO / IEC 17025: 2005, with the following accredited test:
* Environmental Noise.
* Building Acoustic: Sound insulation in buildings and of building elements. Airborne sound insulation between rooms
(UNE EN ISO 140-4:1998 and EN ISO 16283-1: 2015), Airborne sound insulation of façade elements and façades (UNE
EN ISO 140-5: 1999), and Sound insulation Impact noise floors (UNE EN ISO 140-7: 1999).
OTHER TESTS:
* ISO 3095:2005. Railway applications - Acoustics - Measurement of noise emitted by railbound vehicles.
* Environmental noise monitoring in transport infrastructures.
* Determination of sound power levels and sound energy levels of noise sources using sound pressure (UNE EN ISO
3744: 2011; EN ISO 3745: 2010; EN ISO 3746: 2011; EN ISO 3747-2011)
* Noise emission in the environment by equipment for use outdoors (Directive 2000/14 / EC and RD 212/2002).
* Determination of sound power levels of noise sources using sound intensity (UNE EN ISO 9614, parts 1, 2, and 3,
2010).
TEST FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENTS:
10 Noise analyzers, vibration analyzers mono and triaxial, Multichannel Data Acquisition Systems, Sound intensity
probes, Head and Torso Simulator for sound quality evaluation and testing, Sound Level Meters and Noise Dosimeters,
Environmental Noise Monitors & Monitoring Systems.
Software for modeling, calculation and assessment of environmental noise (road and railways infrastructures, industrial
noise). Software for Vibro-Acoustic Modeling (FEM - BEM).
