DESCRIPTION AND GOALS OF THE ORGANISATION
The manufacturing engineering laboratory is included in the structure of the
Department of Mechanical Engineering , tasked with the provision of
specialized support services to the various UPM research groups , the
university community and collaboration with companies; playing a strategic
role in validating R&D results and industrial technology transfer under
industrial collaborative activities. Particularly active in the railway sector in
fields of energy components, train control, safety and comfort analysis and
interaction pantograph-contact line..Particularly active in the railway sector

The laboratory is equipped with facilities for general purpose manufacturing engineering: machining center model
Deckel Maho high-speed (5 axis), a CNC lathe with bar feeder, CNC machining center Deckel Maho, horizontal plastic
injection Matheu Sole Meteor, coordinate measuring machine Mitutoyo; and a set of numerical control machines for
microfabrication.
The equipment of the laboratory is ready for testing in field including recorders 8, 12 and 16 channels with configurable
test environment software applications for use with different sensing components as accelerometers, gauges, probes
current and voltage, audio spectrum analyzer spectrum analyzers band GSM and GSM-R, thermal camera for
inspection; enabling flexible equipment to test demand under ad-hoc requirements.
